Hadron Energy Welcomes Nuclear Regulatory Commission Director Andrea Veil to the Team
We are excited to share Andrea Veil has joined Hadron Energy as Board Advisor! Andrea has shaped nuclear safety and regulation for over three decades. Since joining the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) as an intern in 1992, Andrea’s career has been defined by strategic leadership, technical expertise, and unwavering commitment to public safety.
Most recently serving as Director of the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR), Andrea led a team of over 500 professionals by setting the strategic direction for nuclear reactor oversight. She embodied the NRC’s mission to protect public health, safety, and the environmentHer leadership has spanned roles such as Deputy Office Director for Engineering, Executive Director for the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards, and a Congressional Fellow on Capitol Hill.
Andrea has influenced energy policy at the highest levels. Andrea's dedication earned her top honors including the 2024 Presidential Rank Award and the 2016 Women of Color STEM Career Achievement in Government Award. With a background in Materials Science and Engineering from Northwestern University, Andrea has been instrumental in guiding the NRC through the evolving landscape of nuclear energy, particularly in advancing risk-informed decision-making for new reactor designs.
As we drive the microreactor revolution forward at Hadron Energy, we are proud to highlight Andrea's remarkable career. Her expertise will be invaluable in collaborating with the NRC to align on regulatory requirements as we advance toward the commercialization of our microreactor. Hadron Energy is developing microreactors to power data centers, government sites, remote communities, industrial applications and more with 24/7 emissions free energy. We have 1 GW of signed customer agreements resulting in demand for 500+ units.
